‘Why I Left Real Madrid’- Ex Striker Adebayor Finally Reveals

Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed his contract at Real Madrid was not made permanent, because of his late brother.

Adebayor, who now plays for Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey, joined Los Blancos on loan from Manchester City for the closing part of the 2010/2011 season.

Although there was an option for the La Liga giants to keep him, they opted against retaining the Togo striker.

Adebayor famously went public with his struggles with family members after via a lengthy Facebook post in 2015, which caused mixed reactions.

And in yet another revealing session, he has accused his late sibling of aiding Real Madrid’s decision.

“It is a tough one, it is a difficult one,” Adebayor told BBC Sport.

“Today, I think I made the right decision to go public because of what I have been through.

“People will say you have to keep it for yourself but I have done everything to stay in Real Madrid but because my late brother I couldn’t stay there.

“He sent a letter, an official letter from Adebayor’s family to the club that they shouldn’t keep me.

“I’m not saying that’s why they did not keep me, but it can be part of it. Even if it is 10%, it is a lot,” he concluded.
